Leading property owners in the economic heart of the Sunnyside District met in July 2008 to express a unified intent toward pedestrian-friendly, shopper-friendly, and bicycle-friendly connectivity in the area. The overall goal is to reduce automotive congestion, including the need for short car trips by residents, and to provide continued transit at the end of the new ClackaMax Green Line.
The nearing development of a premier two-million square foot mixed-use district, the Eagle Landing project, further complements the region with a true American town design to promote community, pedestrian orientation and new urban density with a sense of place. The Eagle Landing project completes a loop of economic import for the east metropolitan area by bringing work, residential, retail, entertainment and civic gatherings together in a leading economic region.
